The short version. This is the privacy policy for the fairyfox.io hub — the project home and documentation library. It has no accounts and collects no personal information about you. Your reading preferences and your Fairy Fox coins are saved only in your own browser. The site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking. It does load fonts and icons from third-party services, which is disclosed below. Each linked project has its own policy.
What this covers
This policy explains how the fairyfox.io site (“the Site”, “we”, “us”) handles information. The Site is a free, static website — the hub and documentation library for 1fairyfox’s software work — served at fairyfox.io. It runs entirely in your browser. Individual projects reached from the Site (games, apps, and other tools) have their own policies; this one covers the hub itself.
What we do not collect
- There are no user accounts and no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, or address.
- We run no analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or behavioral profiling, and we build no user database.
- We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, or location.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with anyone, because we hold none.
Information stored on your own device
To make the Site nicer to use, it saves a little information in your browser — not on any server:
- Reading preferences — the “Aa” reading menu’s theme, accent colour, text size, line spacing, and width.
- Fairy Fox coins — a small reading-engagement counter: your coin balance and a record of which pages you have opened today (so a page is only counted once a day). This resets its daily record each day; the balance carries over.
Both are kept in your browser’s local storage and stay on your device; they are never transmitted to us. They are saved under shared keys so a single choice and one coin balance carry across the same-origin fairyfox.io site in the same browser — still local to your device only. We provide an easy way to clear or reset this data: the reading menu has a Reset, the coins panel has a Clear my data link, and you can also clear it any time from your browser’s site-data settings for the Site — any of which simply resets your saved preferences and coins.
Hosting and server logs
The Site is served as static files by GitHub Pages. Like virtually all web hosting, the provider automatically processes basic technical information required to deliver the site and keep it secure — most notably your IP address and standard request metadata — in its server logs. This is handled by GitHub as our hosting provider under its own privacy policy. We add no analytics, profiles, or user database on top of it.
Fonts, icons, and third-party requests
The Site currently loads its typefaces from Google Fonts
(fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com) and its icon font from
cdnjs, operated by Cloudflare. When a page loads, your browser requests those
resources directly from those providers, which means your IP address and basic request data are
visible to Google and Cloudflare for the purpose of serving the files. We send them no other
information about you, and the Site embeds no ad networks, analytics scripts, or social widgets.
We may move to self-hosting these assets to remove that third-party exposure.
Cookies
The Site sets no cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage for the preferences and coins described above, which is not a tracking cookie and is not transmitted to us. See our Cookies Policy for details.
Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience documentation and project site. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, we do not knowingly collect it from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information — for example, by emailing us — please contact us and we will delete it.
Your privacy rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and others)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we hold essentially no personal information about you, there is usually nothing on our side to access or delete — the data that exists (your reading preferences and coins) is on your own device and fully under your control.
For California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not collect, sell, or “share” (for cross-context behavioral advertising) your personal information, and we use no sensitive personal information.
For users in the EEA/UK (GDPR): where any limited processing occurs (such as the hosting logs and the third-party font/icon requests described above), it is based on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the Site. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We take reasonable steps to keep the Site secure, but no method of storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure. The Site runs client-side and we operate no server that holds your data.
International users
The Site can be used worldwide. When you load it, your request and the limited technical data described above may be processed in the United States or other countries where our hosting and the third-party providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site changes. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected here on this page.
