The short version. Coins are a little reward for reading and exploring Fairy Fox. You earn them just by opening pages you haven't read yet today. They are not money — you can't buy them, you can't cash them out, and they're worth nothing outside the fun of collecting them. They're only saved in your own browser, shared across the whole fairyfox.io site, and we strive to keep them across site updates.
What coins are
Coins are a light engagement feature — a gentle nudge to read a bit more and wander a bit further across the projects. They are cosmetic and optional. Nothing on the site requires coins, and nothing is locked behind them.
They are not money
This is the important part: coins have no monetary value. You do not and cannot pay for them. They cannot be purchased, sold, traded, transferred, redeemed, or exchanged for anything of value. There is no store that takes real money, no subscription, and no way to turn coins into cash. They are simply a fun counter.
How you earn them
- Open a page you haven't read yet today — anywhere across Fairy Fox — and you earn a coin.
- Every so often (about one time in ten) a fresh page is worth two instead.
- Re-opening a page you've already read today has a small chance of a little bonus coin, up to a handful of times a day.
- On a longer reading page (more than a couple of minutes), reading it through earns an extra coin. Pages that involve reading show an estimated read time.
- Every so often a reading page hides a coin in a word, marked very subtly — click it to claim the coin (a few a day at most).
There's no daily "claim" to grind, no streak to protect, and no pressure — you earn simply by reading and exploring.
How it works across the site and its projects
You have one coin balance shared across everything served under fairyfox.io — the hub, the games, the project documentation — in the same browser. Individual projects may add their own small, tasteful coin moments (a game might give a coin for a personal best, or let you spend one on a bit of confetti). When they do, it stays subtle and always extra: a project will never make you earn or spend coins to use it. Coins are mainly a fairyfox.io feature.
Keeping your coins
Your balance is only saved in your own browser. We strive to keep your coins across site updates — a site update or internal change should carry them forward rather than reset them — though, like anything a browser stores, they aren't guaranteed forever. The surest way to clear them is you: the Clear my data button in the coins panel, or clearing your browser's site data for Fairy Fox, resets your balance. (Because coins live only in your browser, they don't follow you to a different browser or device.)
Privacy
Coins are stored only on your device and are never sent to a server. The counter keeps your balance and a record of which pages you've opened today (so a page is only counted once a day). For the full picture, see our Privacy Policy and Cookies Policy.

Coins are provided as-is, for fun, with no monetary value and no guarantee of continuity — the feature may change or be removed at any time, and doing so takes nothing of value from you.
