A first stable release, and depth reaches the tenth game

fairyfox.io closes its 0.x line and cuts 1.0.0, its first stable release, then spends the same day layering on the hardening a stable release implies — a CI gate, static analysis, branch protection, provisioned secrets, and a local-first Docker standard. Meanwhile the games collection brings its depth layer to a tenth game, and a story reaches the chapter where its secret opens.

The hub had the biggest day of the three, and it was a day about declaring something finished and then earning the declaration. The two farms each did the quieter, steady thing they do well.

This site: a first stable release, and the hardening it implies

The 0.x “in development” line closed. fairyfox.io cut 1.0.0, its first stable release — a major bump is never automatic here, always the owner’s call — once the site and the shared-standards hub had matured into a coherent, enforced whole rather than a set of pieces still finding their shape.

The rest of the day was the work a stability promise actually requires. The compliance audit gained invocation modes and the hub took its first pass at hardening itself. Then came the supply-chain layer in full: a continuous-integration gate that checks documentation links and builds the site, static analysis over the JavaScript, and branch protection on main, so releases now go through a pull request with the checks required rather than a direct push. A companion standard names the three per-repository secrets that the code-quality, coverage, and Scorecard integrations depend on, and ships a small tool that provisions them from a concealed prompt so nobody has to hunt for the links again. Two process standards were folded in — work is complete by default and planned in phases by default — and a Docker standard established that the Linux half of a build or test should run locally in a container rather than being discovered on the CI runner. Ahead of the release the fonts were brought in-house, closing the last hot-link to an outside content network.

None of this changes what the site looks like. It changes what standing behind it means.

Fairy Fox Games: Symmetry gets its depth

Symmetry was the oldest game still without the collection’s depth layer, and today it gained all four pieces on its single spread verb. A catch already succeeds anywhere within a forgiving band; hidden inside it is a razor-thin one, and landing the catcher dead on the lane turns the catch into a facet — a bonus, a gold bloom, a streak — while a loose catch scores exactly as it always did and quietly breaks the chain. It is taught nowhere. Three facets in a row light the mirror into a radiance that doubles every point for about five seconds, with the precise hand becoming the greedy one. A fall curve that never plateaus and a secret stage past the visible end — announced only by being reached — complete the set. Tenth of thirteen games on the layer.

Fairy Fox Stories: the secret opens

With the previous day’s random override spent, the blend handed the day back to the staleness leader it had briefly robbed, The Wintering House, and its eighth chapter opens the part of the blueprint the earlier chapters could only circle. It works at two scales: the world’s quiet complicity, staged as the house’s one New Year ceremony read from the page exactly as it lies, and a second swallowed grief buried by the north wall where the wind is. One chapter before the family begins to price the cost of staying, the book offers its narrator her first way out — and leaves deliberately unanswered the question the reader most wants answered.
