Process Report — check-only, 2026-07-02
A full, honest account of running a fairyfox system procedure. The point is to improve the system — so say what was rough even if the run succeeded. Voice: direct, matter-of-fact, no hype. Standard:
hub/standards/process-reports.md.
Outcome in one line
Scheduled check-for-updates run: refreshed the hub mirror to 0.11.2 (7ad4eeb); no
hub/standards/ or hub/templates/ changes since the last-seen 0.11.0 (2ffe455) — nothing to
adopt, nothing applied.
What was done
git -C assets/references/fairyfox.io pull --depth 1 --ff-only origin devaborted — hubdevhad been force-pushed (+ 2ffe455...7ad4eeb dev -> origin/dev (forced update)). Took the runbook's documented fallback:git fetch --depth 1 origin dev+git reset --hard origin/devon the reference clone only. Mirror now at7ad4eeb(hub VERSION 0.11.2).- Diffed the old anchor against the new HEAD scoped to the shared surfaces:
git diff 2ffe455 7ad4eeb -- hub/standards hub/templates→ empty. Both commit objects were still present locally, so the diff is real, not a shallow-clone artifact. - Widened to the whole hub diff to explain the version bump: the only changes are the hub's own
website/metadata —
_data/{downloads,projects,pulse}.yml,_projects/{random-ai-prompt,fairyfox-games}.md, two_posts/blog entries,hub/.last-seen.yml, and the hub'snotes/+VERSION. That commit ("reconcile to RAP 2.38.1 + Fairy Fox Games 0.6.0, blog the 1st") is the hub tracking this project's releases — not new standards for this node to adopt. - Cross-checked the last report (
2026-07-02-propose-scorecard-hardening.md): last-seen anchor washub_version: 0.11.0 / hub_commit: 2ffe455, matching the pre-pull local HEAD. Confirms the diff window is correct.
Applied nothing (check-report-wait default). No authorizations.yml lookup was needed — there is no
pending adoption to shortcut.
What went well
The force-push fallback is spelled out in CLAUDE.md, so the aborted --ff-only was expected and handled
without guessing. Because the pre-pull commit stayed in the object store, the standards/templates diff
could be computed exactly rather than inferred.
What went wrong / friction
Hub dev gets force-pushed routinely, so --ff-only "fails" on essentially every run and the
reset --hard fallback is really the normal path, not the exception. The runbook frames it as an edge
case ("if ... aborts"), which undersells how often it fires.
Suggestions / feedback
Consider having the check flow use the version anchor (hub_version from the latest report) rather than
the mirror's pre-pull SHA as the diff base — the SHA is fragile across force-pushes/re-clones, while the
version is the durable anchor the template already treats as authoritative. Here they happened to
coincide (2ffe455 = 0.11.0), but a re-clone would have lost the local object and broken the diff.
Environment
Windows + PowerShell (per project rule: no bash sandbox). Reference clone at
assets/references/fairyfox.io/ (read-only, git-ignored). Unattended scheduled run — report-and-wait,
applied nothing.
